President Joe Biden confirmed that his predecessor left him a letter before departing the White House early Wednesday.
Donald Trump may have skipped Biden’s inauguration ceremony and avoided citing his name during his farewell speeches but he indeed left a note for the new Oval Office’s holder.
“The president wrote a very generous letter,” Biden told reporters. “Because it was private, I won’t talk about it until I talk to him. But it was generous.”
Jen Psaki, Biden’s press secretary, also described the letter as “both generous and gracious.”
Trump expressed his best wishes for Biden’s administration in his farewell address at Joint Saint Andrews, Maryland but did not mention Biden.
“I think they’ll have great success, they have the foundation to do so,” he said.
