Four people were tragically killed early Thursday morning in a wrong-way collision in Connecticut, officials said.
State Police said the crash occurred on Route 15 South in Stratford at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.
Troopers were alerted by multiple reports of a car driving the wrong way in the area shortly before the crash.
The driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on Route 15 when he crashed into a car, killing its three occupants.
Steven Rowland, 65; Thomas Lucian Vitale, 80; and Olga Vitale, 81 were identified as the occupants of the vehicle that was traveling on the right way.
The fourth victim was the wrong-way driver whose car had burst into flames from the impact of the collision.
All four victims were declared dead at the scene.
Authorities said that a trooper responding to the crash was involved in a separate accident on the way to the scene and suffered minor injuries.
