2 dead, 1 injured after fight escalates into shooting at Arlington parking lot

A fight at an Arlington parking lot ended in a fatal shooting that claimed two young men’s lives late Saturday night, police said.

Officers were called to the 5600 block of S. Cooper Street just after 10 p.m. and found two unresponsive victims suffering gunshot wounds.

  • The two men, ages 20 and 19, succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. A third victim, a 19-year-old man, was treated for a gunshot wound to the foot.

    Many people, including the suspected gunman, were arrested at the scene. Police learned the shooting stemmed from a fight between two groups.

    17-year-old Saman Islam reportedly retrieved a gun from a car and opened fire. He was arrested on capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.
