Drunk Las Vegas woman traveling wrong way crashes car into bus stop killing 2; wounding 3

A man and a teenager died Wednesday when a drunk driver traveling the wrong way slammed her car into a Las Vegas bus stop, authorities said.

Cynthia Phelps, 64, was reportedly driving her 2014 Kia Rio northbound in the southbound lane of Boulder Highway at a high rate of speed when she crashed into five individuals waiting at a bus stop at around 7:35 p.m.

Las Vegas Metropolitan said that the crash was so powerful it sent a man, a woman, and three children onto the roadway.

  • The deceased victims were identified as a 42-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy. Both died at the scene.

    The surviving woman, 41, was hospitalized in a “potentially fatal” condition. The two other children, ages eight and 11, were listed in “serious” condition.

    Phelps suffered minor injuries and showed “signs of impairment” once in custody.
