The death of a Southern Ohio Correctional lieutenant is being investigated as a “reckless homicide”, officials said.
On April 9, Lt. Rodney Osborne was gunned down during a training exercise at Pickaway County’s Correctional Training Academy.
While the death was initially deemed a “tragic accident,” investigators are now looking into the case as a reckless homicide.
A day after the fatal shooting, authorities placed another employee of the correctional facility on paid administrative leave.
The 13-year veteran of the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility was just named Employee of the Year a week before his passing.
Osborne’s family described him as “one of the best men you could ever ask for” and a great dad and husband.
