DC news, Washington news.

President-elect’s daughter Ashley Biden told news outlets Tuesday that the Trump family did not reach out to her parents over the traditional protocol ahead of the Inauguration Day, calling the situation “unfortunate.”

“I don’t think they’re doing the traditional protocol, which is unfortunate, but I think we’re all OK with it,” she told the Today show.

The handoff of power formally includes an invitation to the White House, accompanying tea, and tour of the family wing of the residence.

But the First Ladies’ ceremony couldn’t take place with Trump ignoring his successor and refusing to hold the traditional Oval Office meeting.

This year, the Bidens will be greeted by White House chief usher Timothy Harleth instead of the outgoing family on the steps of the residence’s North Portico.
