A Connecticut woman is facing murder charges after she allegedly drowned her 2-year-old son in the Connecticut River earlier this year.
The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the September death of 2-year-old Deroyal Miller a homicide.
His mother, Devoni Miller, was charged with murder and several other counts in connection to the incident.
Police said that on September 11, Miller crashed on Route South in Cromwell and left her car.
She was found about two hours later near the rover. She told officers her child was floating after swimming with her.
The child was found in a nearby rocky area. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators alleged Miller was speeding before crashing into another vehicle, her second crash of the day, and tried to convince the other driver not to call the police.
She told detectives she was “not crazy, just a little depressed.” Witnesses recalled her saying she was “running and hiding from the police and demons.”
