Miami news, Florida news.

Authorities in Plantation are investigating the deaths of a woman and her toddler son as a homicide after they were found dead by “traumatic means” on Tuesday.

Sara Ashley Gama, 38, and her 2-year-old son Ethan were pronounced dead inside their home in the 1000 block of 97th Avenue at around noon Tuesday.

Officers also found 40-year-old Jean Carlos Aponte unconscious, apparently from a self-induced drug overdose.

“Oh my God, we were just here yesterday,” an acquaintance said. “Devastation. How does this happen? She [Gama] just had a baby.”

A neighbor said that he saw police come out from the home with the unharmed newborn and the grandparents.

“I’m beyond sad. What a loss for the neighborhood,” another added.
