Florida man fatally shoots wife; chases ambulance taking her to hospital: ‘He was following very closely’

A Florida suspect is accused of following an ambulance carrying his slain victim to the hospital after a fatal shooting Wednesday night.

Devin Hansen, 28, was charged with first-degree murder, domestic battery, fleeing and eluding and obstructing justice over the death of his wife Yasmin Grijalva.

Investigators said Hansen shot Grijalva at his parents’ house during an argument at around 10:30 p.m. before fleeing the scene.

  • As first responders transported the morally wounded woman to the hospital, an officer riding in the ambulance spotted the suspect’s black Cadillac following them.

    “We knew he was armed. He was dangerous. He was violent, and he was following very closely,” said Police Spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez. “That was considered a threat, an issue.”

    “That’s when officers tried to pull him over and he took off.”

    Hansen was arrested following a police chase that ended in a crash. His wife was declared dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
