‘Never made it to window’: Idaho deputy fatally shot during attempted traffic stop

An Ada County sheriff’s deputy was gunned down while approaching a vehicle during a routine traffic stop, Idaho authorities said.

Deputy Tobin Bolter, 27, was shot to the neck and killed while approaching the driver’s window early Sunday.

    Dennis Mulqueen, 65, was later shot and killed by police in Boise. Authorities said he had abandoned his car and was “uncooperative” as officers “attempted to take him safely and peacefully into custody.”

    Mulqueen fired at officers who then returned fire, fatally hitting him. The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the shooting.
