2 killed; one seriously hurt after 18-wheeler’s load crushes vehicle in Texas

A fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler killed two people and seriously injured another in Temple, Texas authorities said Saturday.

The victims were occupants of a vehicle that was pinned underneath a 350,000-pound oversized load on Highway 36.

Officers and firefighters rushed to the scene at around 12:20 p.m. and extracted the surviving person from the wreck.

  • It took officers around four hours to remove the occupants from the crushed vehicle. Two were declared dead at the scene.

    The Temple Police Department is investigating how the load came off its trailer while traveling on the highway.
