Mass shooting at Florence, Kentucky home leaves 4 dead, 3 wounded; gunman deceased

Four people were killed and three others wounded in an early Saturday morning shooting in Florence, Kentucky, authorities said.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting at a Ridgecrest Drive home shortly before 3 a.m. found seven victims suffering gunshot wounds.

Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene; the three others were transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where they are listed in critical condition.

The suspect had fled the scene by the time officers arrived; his vehicle was quickly located near Farmview Drive and U.S. 42 where officers attempted a traffic stop.

    Authorities said the shooter had suffered a gunshot wound and died at St. Elizabeth Covington Hospital.

    Neighbors said the shooting occurred during a birthday party in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood.

    “When I tell you this is a great neighborhood, I’m not kidding you,” another resident added.
