Brown Deer news, Wisconsin news.

A Wisconsin dentist was gunned down late Saturday after he reportedly asked his neighbor to turn down the music, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a woman running around a Brown Deer apartment complex and asking for help.

The 27-year-old woman, later identified as Keionna McGowan, led officers to her apartment near Park Plaza Court and Brown Deer Road, where they found a deceased man.

Akintunde Bowden, 41, was reportedly shot in the lower abdomen. A sparkling water can was found next to his feet.

McGowan told the officers that Bowden had come to her apartment and asked her to turn down the loud music, claiming that she did.

“You then armed yourself, opened the door, an action occurred, and you shot because you were afraid,” said Court Commissioner Barry Phillips.

Phillips told the court Thursday that there were numerous inconsistencies between the arrest detention report and the criminal complaint.

McGowan was charged with second-degree reckless homicide. Her victim was remembered as a gentle giant who served Milwaukee’s underprivileged communities for the last 10 years.

“He really loved his patients, poured into them. Used to have stories,” Bowden’s brother said.

“He always reached for people that didn’t have as much or didn’t have what we consider a fair chance.”
