Georgia sister accused of leaving 5-year-old boy to nearly drown in pool

A Georgia woman is accused of leaving her 5-year-old brother to struggle and nearly drown in a pool last month.

The boy was found unresponsive after the April 13 incident at the Hamilton Grove Pool. He was revived and rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said the boy’s sister, 24-year-old Mikayla Jimya Dixon, claimed she was not at the scene when the incident unfolded.

    Detectives said the boy could be seen drowning for one to one-and-a-half minutes before Dixon noticed and tried to pull him out.

    Dixon was charged with first-degree felony cruelty to children, abandonment of a dependent child, and false statements or writing to conceal facts.
