Armed driver arrested on boat after fleeing crash that hurt 2 kids, 1 adult

A driver accused of fleeing the scene of a crash that left two children and one adult injured in South Carolina was arrested on a boat Thursday, officials said

Justin Collin Adams was captured in a boat after he fled the crash scene on Sullivan’s Island on foot and armed with a knife.

“The suspect has been arrested. He is in custody. The area is now safe,” said Sgt. Matthew Storen. “He was found on a boat.”

  • Adams is accused of hitting three pedestrians just before 1 p.m. The victims, including two children, and their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

    “We’re thankful that those injuries were not as serious as we thought they were going to be,” Sullivan’s Island Police Chief Glenn Meadows said.

    Charleston County Sheriff Carl Ritchie said the suspect is being questioned “to determine why this happened, what went on, and what charges.”

    “So we don’t have those yet, what charges we’re going to make. But there will be charges, obviously.”
