Two workers were found unresponsive in the stairwell of a Manhattan’s Little Italy building Saturday afternoon, officials said.
One of the workers, 34, died at the scene on Mulberry St. near Hester St, shortly before 4 p.m.
The second worker was taken to New York Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he died.

The two workers were painting an apartment in the building. Their boss went to check on them when she called for lunch, and they did not respond.
“She go upstairs, she check him, but she find him on the floor,” the girlfriend of one of the workers said.
The medical examiner’s office will determine the men’s cause of death.
