A Louisiana man took his own life after killing his wife, son, and 2-year-old granddaughter last week.
Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in Keithville, Louisiana, on May 5 and tried to negotiate with 60-year-old Leroy Sadler, but he decided to end his life.
Once inside the residence, deputies found the bodies of Sadler, his 64-year-old wife Judy, his 29-year-old son James, and his toddler granddaughter Adalynn Mae.
Adalynn’s mother was at work at the time of the massacre; friends alerted her to the incident, and she rushed to the home after she could not reach James and Leroy.
“[Police] just looked at me with the most saddest expression, and I lost it, I did, because I don’t think anybody would want to lose their baby like that,” Kara Hanning said.
Hanning revealed that the family recently lost a member to cancer, adding that the death took a toll on the Sadlers.
“I’m completely at a loss for words for that, because he loved that baby so much,” she said of Leroy.
“He did love her, and I don’t know what caused this to happen or what he must have been going through. I feel terrible because I wish he had asked for help.”
