A young man was found dead early Saturday after he called 911 to report that he had driven his car into a lake, Mississippi authorities said.
19-year-old Kyeternity Moore, of Rolling Fork, told Yazoo County dispatchers at around 3:30 a.m. that he had run off into Lake George.
First responders could not quickly locate the car due to the vague description provided by Moore.
When volunteer firefighters and deputies were finally able to find the vehicle in the lake near Satartia Road and 15 Mile Road, Moore was no longer inside it.
The driver’s body was eventually located by divers at around 8 a.m.
The Arkansas Department of Corrections said Moore recently joined the department’s Cummins Unit as an officer.
“He was off to a great start, smart, levelheaded, and seemed to enjoy his time here at Cummins,” the department said on Facebook.
“Please continue to pray for his family, extended family, and co-workers during this difficult time.”
