A Montana official died in a plane crash after his aircraft struck power lines and burst into flames Thursday afternoon.
Yellowstone County Commissioner John Ostlund, 73, was the sole occupant of the doomed plane when it crashed “under unknown circumstances.”

The 1969 Cessna 172 single-engine aircraft struck power lines, flipped, and caught fire.
The wrecked plane was later located on a grassy hill south of Billings, near the Wyoming border.
“Susan and I join Yellowstone County in mourning the tragic loss of County Commissioner John Ostlund, who served his community for years. Please join us in praying for his loved ones during this difficult time,” Gov. Greg Gianforte said.
