Philly toddler, 2, shoots and kills 4-year-old sister inside parked car

A Pennsylvania toddler handling an unsecured gun had fatally shot his 4-year-old sister inside a parked car in Chester, south of Philadelphia, on Tuesday.

The 2-year-old boy was playing with the gun in the car outside a gas pump, police said in a statement. After the shooting, the girl was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.

  • The Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer described the incident as “absolutely tragic” adding that detectives from his department were assisting with the investigation.

    “Everybody in the community of Chester, in Delaware County, myself included, all of us are just heartbroken to think of what happened to this poor child,” Stollsteimer said.

    Authorities said that they are still investigating the incident and that no charges have been filed.
