DeKalb County authorities said that they had halted the search for a missing autistic boy who vanished Monday night after wandering away from his family apartment.
Kyuss Williams, 4, went missing at around 6:20 p.m. Monday from East Ponce Village Apartments near Wood Bend Drive.
After hours of search, detectives reviewed surveillance footage from a convenience store in the area and refocused on a nearby pond.
At 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Williams’ body was located in the pond. Police said that foul play was not suspected.
“We extend our condolences to the Kyuss family during this time and we thank everyone who worked to find him,” DeKalb County police said.
Neighbors said that the pond must be fenced off to prevent such tragic incidents involving unsuspecting children.
“They’ve been looking for this baby since earlier yesterday, and for them to just find this baby at like 2:30 in the morning it’s downright wrong. I don’t understand. I can just pray for the parents,” one said.
