Longtime California elementary school teacher killed by adult son during altercation

Authorities in California said that they have enough evidence to charge a 25-year-old man with the murder of his mother, a beloved elementary school teacher in the Burbank community.

Police and paramedics responded to the home of 57-year-old Karyn Lombardo on N. Avon Street at about 10 p.m. Tuesday over reports of an unconscious person.

The woman was declared dead at the scene with detectives collecting evidence incriminating her son Kyle Lombardo in her death.

    Karyn Lombardo was a veteran elementary school teacher in the Burbank Unified School District where she worked for 34 years.

    “Her dedication, warmth, and passion for teaching touched many students and colleagues’ lives,” said Superintendent John Paramo.

    “Her profound impact and loss on this community will be deeply felt throughout the City of Burbank.”
