A West Virginia couple is facing charges after deputies found three children living with numerous dogs inside an extremely filthy home.
Police received multiple reports about the home where Catara White, 25, and Trevor Howell, 26, lived with the three children ages 2, 5, and 15 years old.
The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said the couple was asking neighbors for food and showers for the kids as numerous dogs ran around their home.
Deputies responded to the home to find piles of rotting garbage and feces littering the residence.
There were also dirty pots and pans, a pile of vomit, a water leak and a collapsing roof above the children’s beds.
Deputies spotted the 5-year-old drinking from a Crock-Pot outside the home. The younger child had open “pick” wounds.
Police said a green leafy substance and marijuana smoking devices were left within kids’ reach.
White and Howell were arrested and charged with child neglect. The children and animals were removed from the home.
