An Alabama father was charged with murder in connection with the death of his 4-month-old daughter earlier this month.
Victavious Dennis, 24, reportedly admitted at the hospital that he was responsible for Kyla Jean’s injuries after she was brought to the facility in critical condition with wounds consistent with child abuse.
Dennis allegedly claimed that he was bathing Kyla when she slipped out of his hands and fell, hitting her head on the toilet, bathtub, and floor.
Kyla’s mother was reportedly denied custody of her and her twin sister after testing positive for CBD at childbirth.
Her family said it was her doctor’s recommendation to take CBD during the pregnancy, lamenting that if she had been given custody of the girls, the tragedy would’ve been prevented.
“We would not be sitting here today and getting prepared to bury Kyla in the next few days had they not just given those children to him,” relative Stephanie Griffin said.
