A Kentucky man accused of setting fire to his home, killing his two teen sons, reportedly asked a judge on Monday to be allowed to attend the victims’ funeral.
Dustin Fields allegedly used accelerants to set the home on fire on April 30, killing his two sons, Bently Maxwell Fields, 13, and Rylan Austin Fields, 15.
Prosecutors allege that Fields “used accelerants to set fire to his residence knowing that the home was occupied by his two juvenile sons.”
“A K-9 detected an accelerant on Dustin’s shoes at various locations in the home and in the area where the bodies were found.”
The father reportedly gave investigators “inconsistent and conflicting with witness statements.”
In court Monday, the father asked the judge to be released from jail to attend the boys’ funeral.
“Is there any chance of me furloughing out for the kids’ funeral? I miss my boys,” he reportedly said.
