A college student is dead and eight other people are wounded following a crash involving a U-Haul near the University of Delaware campus on Tuesday.
Witness Victoria Dellanno said the U-Haul came speeding through Main Street in Newark, hitting several people.
“We heard the car speeding up, and then we heard the gates crash, and then we heard them hit the cars,” she recalled.

“We realized that those screams weren’t people having fun; it was people in fear.”
The fatal crash shocked students and left them concerned about their safety.
“I was walking. It’s scary. It could’ve been me. I was literally down the road and was walking up and down Main Street all day,” another student said.
