Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the India plane crash, shared from his hospital bed what he recalled from the terrifying ordeal that claimed the lives of 241 people on board and several on the ground.
The British national of Indian origin emerged from debris walking in a bloodstained shirt in what authorities called “nothing short of a miracle.”
“Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed,” he recalled. “It all happened so quickly.”
Ramesh explained how he saw other passengers including his brother perish in front of him.
He said he escaped through a small space near the door: “I don’t know how I managed to escape.”
“For some time, I thought I was also going to die, but when I opened my eyes, I realized I was alive and I tried to unbuckle myself from the seat and escape from where I could.”
British member of parliament Shivani Raja called Ramesh’s survival miraculous.
“It’s nothing short of a miracle. I have reached out to the family and I’m choosing to respect their privacy at this trying time. But as you may have picked up…one of his brothers was also on that flight who sadly didn’t survive.”
