7 teens injured in drive-by shooting at large gathering in Chicago

Seven teens were injured in a drive-by shooting on Chicago’s South Side late Friday, police said.

The incident occurred as officers dispersed a large gathering of youngsters in the 1200 block of West 78th Street in Auburn Gresham just before 2 a.m.

“An unknown vehicle drove by, and began firing shots at the crowd, striking several victims,” police said.

Authorities said three victims were 17-year-olds, three 18-year-olds, and a 19-year-old.

  • They were struck in the legs, with two suffering additional injuries to the arms, one in the back, and one in the buttocks.

    All victims were listed in “fair condition” except for one who is in serious condition.

    “The vehicle immediately fled the scene. No officers were injured.”

    No arrests were made as police continue “investigating the circumstances involving the incident.”
