A salmonella outbreak led health officials to recall about 1.7 million dozen shell eggs across nine states this week.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the outbreak resulted in 79 hospitalizations, and a recall was issued on June 6.
The recalled eggs are Brown cage-free eggs and brown certified organic eggs distributed by August Egg Company and sold under the plant code numbers P-6562 or CA5330, the Food and Drug Administration said.
Officials also said the recalled eggs have a printed Julian Date from “32” to “126” and were sold in the states of California, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nebraska, Indiana, and Illinois under the following brands:
