New York City news, New York news.

The New York Police Department’s Harbor Unit recovered Friday the body of a 15-year-old girl who vanished a week ago after jumping into the East River.

Graceline Ilogene had reportedly been sitting on the rocks along the shoreline under the Roosevelt Island Bridge on May 30 when she fell into the East River. She never resurfaced.

On Friday, her body washed up on shore, ending a weeklong search. Foul play is not suspected in her death.

“Our currents and tides are very strong,” Mayor Adams said of the East River following the Cuauhtémoc collision.

Authorities are still looking for the body of 17-year-old Brandon Pino, who, on May 31, plunged to his death off the Staten Island Ferry after leaving a goodbye post on Instagram.

“He had posted on his Instagram,” sister Cathleen Pino, 27, said. “It was saying, ‘My last day on Earth.’ And then he also made a post about mental health awareness. ‘Hashtag mental health awareness.’”

“His friends told me that they had seen that he was more happy than usual at school lately,”

“And it seems very off because he was being himself, which was eating, cooking for himself, cooking his healthy food, going to the gym, going to school early, being there for his graduation practice.”
