Toddler killed after drunken driver crashes into stopped car along Texas highway

A Texas girl was killed after a drunken driver slammed into her family’s stopped car along a northern Houston interstate.

3-year-old Chamiria was fatally struck on Mother’s Day. Her mother was driving with her two young daughters to pick up her son when she got a flat tire and pulled over on the side of Interstate 45.

“She was on the side of the road for someone to come and get her for two hours until the accident,” the kids’ grandmother said.

    A suspected drunken driver crashed into the family, killing Chamiria and wounding her mother and 5-year-old sister, who suffered severe burns and broken bones.

    “It’s horrifying. Almost unbelievable. I’m still trying to process all the information and everything that’s going on, so I’m just almost like just going through the motions.”

    55-year-old Donald Carson was arrested on one count of intoxicated manslaughter and two counts of intoxicated assault.
